At Colegio Internacional San Cristóbal, languages are not just subjects: they are part of everyday school life. Spanish, Valencian, English and French are taught within the school timetable, and German is offered as an extracurricular activity from Primary: an international profile that accompanies students from Nursery School to Baccalaureate.

Each language has a defined role within our educational project: students do not just study languages, they use them to learn, communicate and understand other cultures.

Spanish

Language of instruction

The school’s language of instruction: the basis for learning, reading and written expression.
Valencian

Co-official language

Present at every stage, as required by the Valencian regional curriculum.
English

Priority language

A strong focus at every stage, taught intensively with particular attention to spoken communication.

Foreign language in class

Taught in class within the school timetable. Broadens the international profile and opens academic and professional doors in Europe.

Extracurricular activity

Offered as an extracurricular activity from Primary. Boosts cognitive flexibility and adds one of Europe’s most important languages for business.

How we do it

Learning a language by using it every day

Switching between languages requires more mental activity and develops attention, memory and cognitive flexibility. That is why we work on languages in real situations, not just in the textbook.

Ages 1–3

First contact with English

Songs, games and routines in English at different times of the day, in a natural and playful way.

Immersion and literacy

Children’s brain plasticity helps them absorb English naturally. In Primary, reading and writing are consolidated in three languages, French is taught in class and German can be started as an extracurricular activity.

Frequently asked questions about languages at our school

Which languages do students learn at Colegio Internacional San Cristóbal?

Spanish, Valencian, English and French within the school timetable, and German as an extracurricular activity from Primary.

From what age do children start English?

From Nursery School, at the age of 1, through songs, games and routines. From the age of 3, it gains a greater presence in the classroom and is taught intensively at every stage.

Do you prepare students for the official Cambridge exams?

Yes. We are an official preparation centre for the University of Cambridge exams, from Starters (Pre A1) to Advanced (C1).

My child doesn’t speak Spanish. Can they join the school?

Yes. International students have a Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) programme in small groups, with personal monitoring and support for their cultural integration.

Are there immersion experiences abroad?

Yes. English Week in Year 5 of Primary, Irish Week in Year 6, summer courses with international institutions and exchanges with Canadian schools in Secondary.
