International Baccalaureate - Diploma Programme

What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme?

Colegio San Cristóbal is authorised to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP), aimed at students aged 16 to 19, which is a rigorous, well-balanced educational programme with final exams that excellently prepares students for university and adult life. It is designed to support students’ intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being. The programme is recognised and respected by prestigious universities worldwide.

What do we want?

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) has a number of key objectives:

  • Holistic Development
It strives to develop students in a holistic way, nurturing their academic abilities and their personal and social growth alike.

  • Practical Connections
It encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.

  • Intellectual Challenge
It focuses on fostering intellectual growth, preparing students to excel in their future education and throughout their lives.

  • International approach
It seeks to educate young people with an international perspective, aware of their place in the world and committed to global responsibility.
How do we achieve it?

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) achieves its objectives through a number of different approaches and strategies:

  • Rigorous curriculum framework
The DP consists of six subject groups that offer a broad and balanced education.

  • Theory of Knowledge (ToK)
This exclusive DP course challenges students to think deeply about the nature of knowledge and to explore how we come to understand what we know.

  • Monograph
Students carry out in‑depth research on a topic that interests them, honing both their research techniques and academic writing skills.

  • Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)
This component promotes students’ personal and interpersonal growth through participation in creative, physical and community service activities.

  • Formative and summative assessment
DP assessment encompasses both formative and summative approaches. Formative assessments provide continuous feedback to support learning, whereas summative assessments evaluate student performance at the end of a unit or course.
